  Tips

Short-term wilderness programs typically last 30-90 days.  Trained therapists and counselors take very small groups of troubled teens out into the wilderness, where the therapists help them recognize unhealthy behaviors and attitudes. In a wilderness program, nature itself becomes a teacher that allows a teen to learn from the natural consequences of poor choices and experience consequences that are logical and immediate.
